Need to getaway – with your pooch of course! Here are some suggestions from  a beagle-shaped hotel in Idaho, to a hotel with its own on-demand therapy dog in San Francisco, the experts at TravelPirates have identified some of the best dog-friendly and dog-related hotels across the country.

Dog Bark Park Inn (Cottonwood, ID)

This bed and breakfast in Cottonwood, Idaho deserves a spot on our list for its appearance alone. You and your furry friend can stay in the belly of the world’s biggest beagle, surrounded by doggie decor from the bedding to wall decals. Wake up every morning to scenic prairie view fields, doggie treats, and warm, homemade granola.

Truly a mom-and-pop operation, the Inn was founded and is run by Dennis Sullivan and Frances Conklin, chainsaw artists who created the design for the handmade inn, better known as Sweet Willy. In this case, sleeping in the doghouse is actually a good thing.

Cost to bring your pup: $15.

Hotel Nikko (San Francisco, CA)

When you check in to Hotel Nikko, you’ll find a stuffed animal dog resting on your bed with an note explaining that you can pay $29 to take the stuffed animal home, or you can phone the front desk to arrange for a meeting with Buster, the hotel’s official Canine Operating Officer.

Buster is a therapy dog whose official COO duties include giving guests kisses, posing for Polaroid photos you can take home with you, playing with other dogs staying at the hotel, and occasionally greeting visitors at the front desk. He’s guaranteed to put a smile on your face.

The hotel goes above and beyond to accommodate dogs traveling with their humans. All dogs receive dog beds, bowls and treats upon check-in and get to stay on the hotel’s VIP (Very Important Pet) floor, where they can meet other canine guests at a newly renovated pet terrace featuring dog-run open from 6am to 10pm.

Cost to bring your pup:$50 per day per pet for dogs 50 pounds and under, or $200 per night if your dog is over 50 pounds. The hotel charges an additional one-time refundable cleaning deposit of $150 applied to all guests with pets upon check-in.

The Beverly Hills Hotel (Beverly Hills, CA)

One of America’s most iconic hotels, the “Pink Palace” offers many luxuries, from beautiful bungalows, pools with underwater music and cabanas, a full-service spa, and pet-friendly rooms. Stay where the likes of the Rat Pack, Sidney Poitier, Humphrey Bogart, Elizabeth Taylor, and Marilyn Monroe once rested their heads during Hollywood’s golden age.

Hailing themselves as the “Canine Connoisseurs,” the hotel promises to give your pooch treatment fit for a celebrity. For a fee each day, your pet receives personalized doggie cookies with his or her name on it from the bakery, a doggie bed, and bowl.

Cost:Daily $35 pet fee.

Fairmont Copley Plaza (Boston, MA)

Venturing out to Boston and looking for a playmate for your pet? Carly Copley is the Fairmont’s Canine Ambassador who not only greets guests in the lobby, but also accompanies guests on walks and runs throughout the city (you just have to check her schedule first). She also is quite a socialite, attending several charitable and noteworthy causes around Boston annually.

Located in the heart of downtown Boston, the Fairmont is an excellent option, steps away from the Boston Public Library, shops, and most importantly, a short walk from the Boston Common and Public Gardens, where you, Carly, and your pet can all go for a leisurely stroll (or run!). The Jefferson Hotel (Washington, DC)

If you and Fido enjoy the finer things in life, with a little bit of history mixed in, then head to the Jefferson Hotel, located in the nation’s capital. Prepared to be greeted by Lord Monticello, the hotel’s Executive Canine Officer. Your travel pal will receive an introduction letter, food bowl, filtered water, tons of treats, and a comfy bed to sleep in. Upon request, you can also get dog walking maps or dog sitting services. Monti even has his own hashtag, #LordMonti.

As the name suggests, the hotel is heavily influenced by U.S. president Thomas Jefferson, and even includes some of Jefferson’s signed documents in the lobby. It also has a library with books covering all of Jefferson’s favorite topics. It was also rated by U.S. News one of the Best Hotels in the U.S. for 2018.

Cost to bring your pup: A $50 fee per stay per dog.

Kimpton Hotels (U.S.)

This made the list because an entire hotel chain is dedicated to making a home away from home for your dog! Located around the U.S. in states such as California, Arizona, North Carolina, and Massachusetts, Kimpton promises to host your pet (whether dog, cat, bird, or fish) at no extra cost. The hotel chain has been pet-friendly since it was founded in 1981.

The chain even has dog employees, who head up their Pet Relations division. Each pup serves as the Director of Pet Relations at a given hotel location. Duties range from hotel to hotel, but some include: greeting guests, making sure the hotel’s pet amenities are on par, sampling the Pampered Pooches in-room dining menu, and hosting nightly social hours for the “Brews on the Roof” cocktail series.

For a $5 fee per pooch, Sandy Pines Campground in Kennebunkport, Maine has announced its first annual “Great Maine Camp Out,” a weekend of family festivities in the great outdoors, September 22-23. In alignment with the Fall Equinox, campers and glampers of all ages can spend the night, learn tips for campfire cooking, swap stories by the fire and more.
