The Secret Life of Pets: Perhaps They Are On The Train …

As someone who regularly rides Amtrak’s Surfliner train to San Diego, I welcome Amtrak’s on-going attempts to encourage pets to travel by train. And I’m I referring to ordinary fur kids, not service animals.
Now, to celebrate the release of the movie The Secret Life of Pets on Blu-ray and DVD, Amtrak has teamed up with Universal Pictures Home Entertainment to invite pets to ride free on the certain Amtrak train routes.
The offer will be available to customers who book now through December 11, 2016 or while supplies last, and allows pets to travel at no additional cost on participating Amtrak routes from December 9, 2016 through March 31, 2017. To learn more about the Amtrak pet program visit Amtrak.com/pets. To make a pet inclusive reservation, please call 1-800-USA-RAIL or visit a staffed station.
Watson a Jack Russell Terrier,(above) was the first pet to board an Amtrak train for free at Union Station in Washington, D.C., He was escorted by Jason Molfetas, Amtrak Executive Vice President, Chief Sales and Marketing.
During the first year of Amtrak’s pet program, more than 15, 000 dogs and cats traveled with their owners on select Amtrak trains across the country. Information on the “Pets Ride Free” offer is available at Amtrak.com/secretlifeofpets at select ticket counters and stations, and on trains, including AmtrakConnect Wi-Fi portals. In addition, a limited number The Secret Life of Pets prizes will be available to customers at select stations.
