Clean Your Carpets And Help Shelter Pets

Dedicated to helping families maintain a healthy and happy home, Chem-Dry Carpet and Upholstery Cleaning has launched a campaign designed to involve its network of franchisees in a fundraising effort to support Best Friends Animal Society (Best Friends), benefiting the adoption of shelter pets across the country.
The desire to raise funds for Best Friends was inspired by a national consumer survey conducted earlier this year, which illustrated the importance of clean, healthy homes for pet owners. The study found that 80 percent of pet owners have experienced pet urine accidents in the home. Despite that fact and the other pet-related challenges they face, 65 percent of homeowners with pets would go to any cost to keep their pets.
“Pets are beloved members of so many families that we serve every day, and finding a way to recognize and support them across the Chem-Dry system is important to us,” said Dan Tarantin, CEO of Harris Research, Inc., parent company to Chem-Dry. “As more and more pets are adopted into new homes, accidents are bound to happen. We’re proud that we can provide a superior deep cleaning of carpets and upholstery and eliminate stains and odors when pet accidents occur for these families, helping them maintain a healthy and happy home for them and their pets.”
When pets relieve themselves on carpets and upholstery, it can not only create unsightly stains – it can emit particles of ammonia that create a pungent smell and can cause respiratory and other health problems. The urine deposits can also contain bacteria, which can settle into fibers and cause health issues. Finding a solution that fully eliminates the odor and the bacteria at the source from deep in the carpet fibers can be a challenge and frustration for new pet owners, sometimes even resulting in them having to give up their beloved pets.
Chem-Dry, whose customer base consists of mostly pet owners, offers a line of safe and effective pet and children-friendly services including its Pet Urine Removal Treatment (P.U.R.T.), which eliminates the odor as well as the harmful remnants of urine accidents. In recent testing conducted by an independent laboratory, Chem-Dry’s P.U.R.T. process removed an average of 99.9% of pet urine odors from carpets and, when used with Chem-Dry’s Hot Carbonating Extraction cleaning process and a sanitizer, removed an average of 99.2% of pet urine in carpets.
“Services like our Pet Urine Removal Treatment are key for families welcoming new pets into their homes because they can feel confident in being able to handle and resolve issues that may occur,” Tarantin added. “I’m excited and proud to be raising awareness for shelter pet adoption and raising funds for Best Friends Animal Society. This is an important cause to us and our customers. I’m also glad that Chem-Dry’s array of services can help new pet owners keep their homes clean and keep their families and pets healthy and happy.”
While Chem-Dry has conducted pet adoption and fundraising events on a local level in past years, operators nationwide will be encouraged to participate in this program through add-on donations after service, local promotional offerings with built-in donations, and direct donations generated from print, website, and social channel communications. All funds donated through the Chem-Dry Cares program will go to Best Friends and aid their efforts to support the adoption of shelter pets and Save Them All.®
