North Shore Animal League America Celebrates 70 Years of Saving Lives

North Shore Animal League America (NSALA), the world’s largest no-kill rescue and adoption organization, will celebrate 70 years of saving lives with a Fall Festival at Citi Field in Queens, New York on Saturday, October 18th.

WHAT: The Fall Festival will feature 70 dogs recently rescued by the Animal League from a puppy mill in Oklahoma in its ongoing effort to end the plight of mill dogs. All of the dogs are young adults or puppies, with a mix of breeds including a bulldog, poodles and terriers. They all received medical care from North Shore Animal League America’s world-class veterinary team and these resilient dogs are ready to be placed with their forever families and flourish despite all they have been through.

“We’re so excited for the public to meet these special pups who deserve a second chance at life and a loving home,” said Joanne Yohannan, Vice President of Operations. “Over one million lives have been saved by NSALA over the past 70 years and these dogs symbolically represent the first of the next one million we will save in years to come.”

NSALA encourages the public to make a life-saving choice by choosing to adopt a dog or cat when deciding to add a pet to the family. Thousands of rescue groups and animal shelters across the country have wonderful animals available for adoption.

Additionally, 70 students from the Stephen Gaynor School and the Murray Bergtraum High School for Business Careers will volunteer their time to ensure as many animals as possible are adopted that day.

The family-oriented festivities, celebrating the organization’s seven decades of saving lives, will include hundreds of adoptable dogs, cats, puppies, and kittens, carnival games, food trucks, pet-friendly vendors, face painting, psychic readings, and special guest Peter Rosenberg of Hot 97 radio. Attendees are invited to bring their four-legged friends.
